Filial church hl. Valentin in Haselbach

The Braunau-Haselbach branch church is located in Haselbach in the municipality of Braunau am Inn in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic branch church of St. Valentin of the parish church Braunau-Höft belongs to the deanery Braunau in the diocese of Linz . The church and the former cemetery are under monument protection .

history

A church was mentioned in a document in 1299. The Gothic church was enlarged in the 15th century. The pillars of the originally two-aisled nave were removed in 1690 and a new vault was installed in 1774. Due to heavy rain from May 31 to June 1, 2016 - see Simbach am Inn - the choir was lowered by 3 cm. As a result, the church was structurally secured immediately and completely renovated in 2017.

architecture

The church exterior shows stepped buttresses on the nave and choir. The four-bay nave has a barrel vault with belts and pillars. The raised three-bay choir with a three-eighth end has a Gothic vault, where the ribs were later removed. The two-axis curved west gallery is two-story. The nave and the choir show frescoes with scenes from the life of St. Valentin probably painted by the painter Johann Nepomuk della Croce (1774). The tower in the southern corner of the choir has a ribbed vaulted tower hall and an eight-sided pointed helmet. The south and north portals of the church are Gothic. The north portal has a door with Gothic fittings.

Furnishing

The high altar from the 2nd quarter of the 17th century may have been transferred here from the Braunau-Ranshofen parish church . The altar panel is from 1690. The side altars, the pulpit and the confessionals are made in the Rococo style. The left side altar bears the Gothic statue of Mary and Child from the fourth quarter of the 15th century and was later carved over. In the choir is an oil painting with depictions of the Valentine legend with interesting backgrounds to Haselbach, Braunau etc. from the second half of the 17th century.

There is a bell from 1494.
