The Grimmenstein branch church is located in the center of the market town of Grimmenstein in the Neunkirchen district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic branch church of the Edlitz parish church , consecrated to the patronage of Joseph the Worker , belongs to the Kirchberg deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Wienerwald of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

The branch church was built in 1959/1960 according to the plans of the architect Johann Petermair .

architecture

The concrete building with an approximately circular floor plan under a tent roof with an open roof structure has a north tower. On both sides of the altar area are high polychrome abstract glass paintings by the painter Ernst Bauernfeind .

Furnishing

On the altar wall a relief shows St. Josef as a carpenter working with the young Jesus with a two-man blade saw - the mother of Jesus in the middle in the background looks rather desperate - by the sculptor Franz Barwig the Younger .

The organ by Christoph Allgäuer was consecrated in 2010 by Cardinal Christoph Schönborn .
