Franz Barwig the Younger
Franz Barwig the Younger (born June 12, 1903 in Vienna , † December 13, 1985 in Vienna) was an Austrian sculptor .
Life
Franz Barwig the Younger was the son of the sculptor Franz Barwig the Elder , from whom he also got his first knowledge of sculpture. In 1926 he began studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Josef Müllner . From 1932 Barwig worked as a freelance artist. In 1939 he was involved in the design of a carnival parade for the National Socialists in Vienna.
He was buried next to his father in the Neustift cemetery .

Franz Barwig the Younger mainly created works for churches, such as St. Stephen's Cathedral , sculptures, house signs and sgraffiti in public spaces in Vienna after the war.
