The Haidkirchen branch church in the municipality of Kappel am Krappfeld stands on a flat plateau east of the Gurk River . The church, first mentioned in 1155, is consecrated to St. Cyriacus and belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Kappel am Krappfeld .

Building description

The church consists of a Romanesque nave with a flat ceiling, a saddle roof and a wooden turret , a Gothic apse with a five-eighth end and a sacristy adjoining to the east with a pent roof from 1851. All roofs are covered with stone slabs. The bell was cast around 1450. A Roman grave inscription fragment for Secundinius Viator is walled in on the southwest corner. The wooden west gallery was built around 1700. Wall paintings exposed in the nave depict Christ on the Mount of Olives and the crucifixion.

Facility

The carved figure of St. Cyriacus stands on the high altar with a simple aedicule , which was built around 1680, while the risen Christ is depicted in the upper picture. The left side altar from 1697 consists of a simple aedicula on a small base and an acanthus frame as an attachment. The niche contains a statue of the Madonna, the top picture shows the coronation of Mary . On the altar panel of the right side altar from 1717 the coronation of Mary is depicted in heaven, on earth are the plague saints Sebastian and Rochus as well as saint Rosalia . On the Altarmensa there is a late Gothic statue of St. Cyriacus carved around 1500.
