The Jaunstein branch church stands on a small, wooded hill southeast of Jaunstein / Podjuna in the Globasnitz community . The sacred building consecrated to John the Baptist belongs to the Globasnitz parish .

The baroque church has a high turret , a polygonal choir from 1678, a southern sacristy from 1717 and a western porch. The baroque architectural polychromy was restored during the 1998 restoration. A half-high pillar of a choir screen with a vine tendril motif, birds and a cross is walled in on the southern outer wall , which was probably from one of the early Christian churches of the 5th / 6th centuries. The flat coffered ceiling in the nave was renewed in 1965 based on the original ceiling from 1735. The ogival triumphal arch is marked 1678. A groin vault from the 17th century rises above the retracted choir with a five-eighth closure . The wooden west gallery with ornamentally painted parapets was built in the late 18th century.

The high altar from around 1690 shows the baptism of Christ on the altar sheet . The side altars are from the middle of the 18th century, a carving of the Baptism of Christ from the 19th century.
