The branch church of St. Margarethen in the parish of St. Paul in Lavanttal was first mentioned between 1193 and 1220. The church consecrated to St. Margaretha belongs to the collegiate parish of St. Paul .

Building description

The church is a baroque building built in 1658 . The presented west tower with twin windows in the bell storey is crowned by an onion helmet. The north and south portal have profiled lintels . A barrel vault with a delicate stucco ridge network and two stitch caps spans the nave . A wooden gallery has moved in to the west. A round arched triumphal arch connects the nave with the single-bay, polygonal closed choir.

Facility

The high altar, created around 1660, shows St. Margaret in front of the Madonna on the altar sheet. On the side are the carved figures of Saints Barbara and Katharina . The pulpit was made in 1867. On the console statues, the church has a St. Benedict from 1660 and a late Gothic Apollonia , which was probably revised in the Baroque. Furthermore, a picture of the Sacred Heart painted around 1725 in an elaborately carved frame as well as two canvas pictures of a crucifixion and a painful Mary under the cross from the second half of the 17th century complement the furnishings of the church.
