Distichium ( Zweizeilmoose ) is a genus of deciduous moss from the family Ditrichaceae .
features
Characteristic and eponymous for the mosses of this genus are the strictly two-line leafy stems with long puff-shaped leaves. They form dense, soft turf and usually grow on rocks and rocks.
The stems are forked. The trunk cross-section is oval and has a central cord. The leaves are rather suddenly narrowed from a sheathed, partly whitish base adjacent to the stem into the long awl tip. The leaf vein fills the awl part almost entirely. The lamina cells are linear and smooth at the leaf base, shortened at the leaf shoulder and square to rectangular towards the top.
The species are mostly diocesan . The elongated seta has a smooth spore capsule with strongly perforated or irregularly divided peristome teeth and a conical lid. The kalyptra is cap-shaped.
