Interior of the church

The Roman Catholic branch church Wasai in the village of Wasai in the Liebenfels community belongs to the Liemberg parish in Carinthia. The small church stands on a ridge between the Glantal and the Liembergbachtal. The church was first mentioned in 1408. Originally the church was under the patronage of St. Job , today it is consecrated to St. Martin . In the past, the four-mountain run , an old pilgrimage on the way to Veitsberg, led via Wasai. A mass was held there, and today the pilgrimage route runs through Liemberg.

The church building consists of a nave with a flat wooden ceiling, a so-called Riemling ceiling , a choir with a barrel vault and an open vestibule. The church roof and the ridge turret are covered with larch shingles. The pulpit dates from the third quarter of the 17th century. Doctors of the Church, including St. Gregory and St. Augustine depicted. The church's original high altar is now in the Strasbourg chapel .
