Filip Kutew , actually Filip Kutew Tenew , ( Bulgarian Филип Кутев ; born June 13, 1903 in Aytos , † November 27, 1982 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian composer and conductor .

Life

He graduated from the Sofia University of Music and then from 1951 worked as artistic director of the Bulgarian national folk dance ensemble. He wrote songs and chamber music . He also created arrangements of folk songs . His works are influenced by folklore .

He was honored as a hero of socialist work and the Dimitrov Prize. In the television show Welikite Balgari , Filip Kutew was voted 95th among the greatest Bulgarians by Bulgarian television viewers in 2006. A choir and a music school in Kotel were named after him.
