The Filmarche ( spelling filmArche ) is a self-organized, state-not recognized, private film school in Berlin- Neukölln, which was founded in 2001. It is legally a registered association .

The extra-occupational courses in Filmarche are self-taught . Since then, you have been offered six courses in scriptwriting , cinematography , production , directing , editing and, since 2012, documentary film directing for an average of 200 alternating participants per year . In addition, an interdisciplinary “Basic Film Course” takes place in the first half of the academic year, which introduces the basics of all sub-areas of filmmaking. The course is supported by working groups ( documentary film , drama , film history , story development, mise-en-scène ,Compositing , sound ), weekend workshops, exercise projects and lecture series (e.g. on the subject of film history). The workshops and lecture series are open events. At irregular intervals, “workshop talks” are held with external filmmakers (e.g. with Andreas Dresen , Andres Veiel and Sven Taddicken ). There are also collaborations with film schools around the world.

Training at the Filmarche begins every year in October and lasts for three years. The usual weekly study time is 8 to 20 hours. The individual courses consist of twelve to 16 members. Each participant makes one film per year, which is part of the training. The teams are made up of the individual departments of a year.

As of 2017, 135 active and 90 passive members are studying, teaching and managing the school. They also pay a monthly fee of 70 euros.

Supporters such as the director Dani Levy and professors from state film academies are involved, while director Nora Fingscheidt was involved in building up the filmArche .
