Finance and accounting assistance
Finance and accounting assistance is a training occupation in Austria . It was newly established on June 1, 2012 and replaces the accounting profession .
Duration of training
The training for finance and accounting assistance takes three years in Austria. The training takes place - as is usual with apprenticeships - in the dual training system . This includes in-company training, which is accompanied by school-based training.
Area of responsibility
Finance and accounting assistants monitor all incoming and outgoing payments in a company and are responsible for the ongoing booking of business processes (e.g. invoices, inventory records). They also provide support with payroll accounting, help prepare the annual financial statements and are responsible for the proper filing of all documents. Finance and accounting assistants use special EDP programs (accounting programs) for their work and process reports to the tax office and social security institutions via online portals such as FinanzOnline and ELDA. You work in companies of all industries and sizes. Depending on the type and size of the company, they perform their tasks independently or together with colleagues and employees from other departments.
