Foundling Jasmund
The Jasmund boulder is located on the island of Rügen on the beach between the Kollicker Bach and the Kollicker Ort in the Jasmund National Park and is one of the legally protected geotopes in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . He is with the glaciers of the last Ice Age transported here and only around 1970 by the typical bank here discontinuations from the cliff wall like that out at the top of boulder clay exists.
Size and texture
The boulder weighing around 73 tons has a volume of 27 m³ and is 5 m long, 4 m wide and 2.5 m high.
It consists of biotite-rich granite gneiss . Its exact origin cannot be determined.
