Firebaugh (formerly Firebaugh's Ferry ) is a city in Fresno County in California , United States . 2010 there were 7549 inhabitants registered, after 5743 in 2000. The city is located in the San Joaquin Valley .

The place is 61 kilometers west of Fresno and also west of the San Joaquin River at an altitude of 46 meters.

history

The city is named after Andrew D. Firebaugh, sometimes Fierbaugh, a local entrepreneur. During the gold rush , this one operated a ferry that carried passengers and cargo across the San Joaquin River. He also built a toll road from Bell Station to the Pacheco Pass .

Culture

On the album Wönderful 1985 took punk band Circle Jerks from Los Angeles a song called Firebaugh on where to alcoholism, violence and boredom comes to racial conflicts. The text says: "If your car breaks down, don't take a tow to Firebaugh ..."
