Firuz Aşkın

Firuz Aşkın (* 3. August 1924 in Istanbul as Ali Füruzan Aşkın ; † 3. October 2011 ) was a Turkish painter, draftsman and caricaturist .

He attended elementary and middle school in Ankara . He then graduated from the Istanbul Kabataş Erkek Lisesi boys' grammar school, which he graduated in 1943. During his high school years he worked as a draftsman for Akbaba magazine.

After half a year at the Istanbul Art Academy - he had actually learned drawing from his father - he was already a sought-after illustrator . He illustrated newspapers such as Milliyet and Tanin and designed film posters. He became known for his daily caricatures. For example, he worked for the cartoon magazine Tasvir from 1946.

From 1959 he lived and worked in Munich . Here he made numerous cover pictures for dime novels , but illustrated z. B. also new works by Karl May .

In 1997 a solo exhibition took place in Istanbul, which addressed Firuz Aşkın as a painter.

An art book on Aşkın with the title Illustration bei Heider was published in Germany in 2010 .

Firuz Aşkın was married and the father of two sons.
