history

Fisheries Museum (2007)

Until 2013 there was a Cuxhaven Fisheries Museum , supported by the Cuxhaven Shipping History Association , in part of the premises of the current museum. Private individuals from the fishing industry and fisheries in Cuxhaven had created an exhibition on deep-sea fishing in the historical context of fish handling and processing , which provided a holistic overview from catching to landing and processing. Great emphasis was placed on working out the historical development, with technology playing a decisive role. Because this led to the fact that the fishing trips became longer ( refrigeration technology ) and led to more and more distant fishing sites. The ships of the last generation, as factory ships, landed the caught fish into finished products and the rest as fish meal .

Independently of this, the wreck museum was located in a different location from 1980 to 2013 . Since December 5, 2013, the fishing museum and the wreck museum have been united as wind force 10 - the wreck and fishing museum of Cuxhaven , sponsored by the city of Cuxhaven.
