The fish Heimer Borstel , even Porstel , Borschel or Alter Wall called near the Seelitzer hamlet fish home ( mittelsachsen ) is a Slavic castle wall in peak position on a hilltop site in the early and early Middle Ages . It is a section fortification with a double wall and ditch system.
Description of the plant
The Borstel is 1 km south-southwest of Fischheim on a hilltop on the high bank of the Zwickauer Mulde immediately north of a river bend. It comprises an oval area with an area of approx. 200 by 140 m. In front of it there are two section walls running from northwest to north to east at a distance of 12 to 15 m. The outer wall has a base width of approx. 4 m, a height of 1 m and is accompanied on the outside in the north by an earth extraction ditch. The ramparts are connected at their eastern end; in the northwest, the situation is unclear due to a recent disturbance. The boundary of the ramparts in the west and south, the steep bank above the Mulde, is a pronounced embankment edge, which is characterized by rock formations in the south-west; in the southeast, the hilltop and ramparts are secured by the trench of a creek drained to the hollow.
Excavations and finds
So far, no modern scientific archaeological excavations have taken place on the Bieserner Borstel . Several fragments of Slavic ceramics from the Leipzig district and high medieval ceramics, which are kept in the Museum Schloss Rochlitz , come from older, undocumented excavations by Clemens Pfau , among others .
