The Fisher Bay is a 22 km wide bay on the East Antarctic Georg V. Coast . It lies between the east side of the tongue of the Mertz glacier , which protrudes into the sea, and the mainland mass.
The bay was discovered during the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . This named it after the Australian politician Andrew Fisher (1862-1928), three times Prime Minister of Australia .
