The Fistball Association of Namibia (officially the Fistball Association Namibia until the mid-2010s ) is the umbrella organization of fistball in Namibia . He is one of only eleven African associations a member of the International Fistball Association .

history

The fistball sport developed in Namibia as early as the German colonial era . In 1967 the predecessor of today's Namibia Fistball Association , the Association of South West African Fistball Players, was founded. At the same time the first division was organized and international matches have been held since 1968.

With the Fistball World Championship in 1995 and the Fistball U18 World Championship in 2009, the Namibian Fistball Association has hosted two international tournaments so far.

A women's team and a U18 men's youth team first became active on an international level in 2001.

league

The association organizes four different men's fistball leagues every year:

  • National A-League (top division)
  • National B-League (second highest division)
  • National U18 League (U18 division)
  • Mini U14-League (U14 division)

societies

Five different clubs play in the Namibian fistball leagues, each with up to four teams per league.

National team

The Namibian national fistball teams are among the leading teams in international fistball.

  • Men's national fistball teams
  • The women took 5th place at the 2006 Fistball World Cup .
  • The female youth U18 took 5th place at the 2009 Fistball World Cup .
  • The male youth under 18 years of age took 8th place at the 2006 Fistball World Cup , 6th place in 2009 and 5th place in 2010 .
