Main ingredients

Flemish Karbonade (Flemish: Stoofvlees or Stoverij , French Carbonade à la flamande ) is a traditional pot roast - stew of Flemish cuisine from Belgium .

The meat used is usually not carbonade (pork ribs) , but beef and pork goulash and sometimes chopped bacon .

The carbonate gets its typical sweet and sour taste from the combination of strong beer and sweet ingredients such as onions, carrots, brown sugar or breakfast cake.

French fries or stoemp (a porridge made from potatoes and carrots) are usually served as a side dish .
