Raftsman's Chapel

The chapel stands in a small industrial area (sewage treatment plant and municipal waste disposal facility) at a bend in the river Enns , which was formerly known as the " Floßlände ". According to a legend, St. Nicholas is said to have preached here.

The one-story baroque building was built in 1763-64 by order of the Weißenbacher leather master and innkeeper Wilhelm Leberporg and honors the Sorrowful Mother of God , St. John of Nepomuk and St. Nicholas . The chapel was consecrated in 1764 by Matthäus Offner , the abbot of the Benedictine Abbey of Admont at the time . The bell in the roof turret of the chapel was cast by Martin Feltl in 1768.

The chapel was decorated with statues of St. Nicholas, John Nepomuk, Benedict and Gallus ; these were stolen in a burglary in 1977 and remained missing.
