The first explicit mention of the original St. Martha church dates from 1478, but a previous building was consecrated in 1152 by Salzburg Archbishop Eberhard I. However, the church was so destroyed by fire on April 17, 1575 that even all three bells melted. In the side chapels there are two small, baroque Gösser altars from the middle of the 18th century. The one in the south is simply worked and St. Barbara, her decapitation can be seen on the altarpiece, above is a picture of St. Josef, the altar is flanked by statues of St. Notburga and Isisdor. The altarpiece of the more richly crafted Marian altar to the north shows a scene with St. Anna teaching Mary to read, in the background is St. Joachim. St. Anthony of Padua can be seen on the top picture. Expressive statues on both sides depicting St. Florian and the Archangel Michael represent. Mary sits in the middle with the baby Jesus. In the side chapels there is also a niche with rococo stucco, which in the north is a statue of St. Veronica and in the south Jesus at the scourge column. On the nave walls there are statues of Saints Leopold, Rochus, Benedikt, Anton von Padua, Josef Sebastian and Johann Nepomuk on consoles. The organ dates from 1841 and was renewed by Martin Hölzl. On the occasion of a complete interior restoration in 1983, a new popular altar was erected, as well as a 130 cm statue of St. Nicholas for the high altar. The blessing by Bishop Johann Weber took place on December 6, 1983. A crucifixion group from the 17th century and figures of Maria and Johannes from the 18th century are attached to the outer wall next to the entrance door facing the place. A new sgraffito sundial by Emmerich Millim adorns the sacristy superstructure. The former cemetery served as a burial place for the residents of Altenmarkt from the 11th century to 1847. In 2001 and 2002, the community laid out a path of psalms based on the Windischgarstner model in the cemetery. Cast-iron crosses, some 200 years old, were renovated and attached to the cemetery wall with small panels on which psalms were printed.

According to a legend, St. Nicholas is said to have preached at this place called “Raft Landing”. The chapel was 1763/64 in honor of the Sorrowful Mother of God and of St John of Nepomuk and St. Nicholas at the request of Weißenbacher Leather Master and innkeeper Wilhelm Leberporg built in 1764 by Admonter ordained Abbot Matthew Offner and a measuring License equipped. The small, one-bay baroque building with a retracted, semicircular apse, wrought-iron lattice gate and a graceful roof turret, inside a bell cast by Martin Feltl in 1768, originally contained statues of Saints Nicholas, Johannes Nepomuk, Benedict and Gallus. These were stolen in 1977 and have remained missing until now.
