The flat lap term cress ( Arabis planisiliqua (Pers) Rchb.. ; Incl. Arabis nemorensis (Wolf ex Hoffm) WDJ Koch. , Syn .: Arabis gerardi W.DJ Cook ) is a representative of Arabis ( Arabis ).
description
The flat-potted rockcress is a one to two year old plant . It reaches heights of 50 to 80 cm. The stems are covered at the bottom with sitting, lying hair, and at the top too bald. They have up to well over 50 stem leaves that overlap. The leaf base is heart-shaped or arrow-shaped, the auricles are pressed and encompass the stem.
The petals are 4 to 5 mm long. Flowering time is May to July, pollination takes place by insects or self-pollination .
The pod is upright, pressed against the stem, compressed and 3 to 5 cm long and 0.6 to 0.9 mm wide. The fruit valves are flat, bumpy over the seeds, the central vein is almost absent. The stylus is 1 mm long. The seeds sit in a row, so they protrude to the middle of the septum and form a longitudinal line. The seeds are winged at the tip.
The species has chromosome number 2n = 16.
Occurrence
The flat-pod rockcress is considered a plant of the glacial valleys. It is rare in Central Europe. It became extinct in Thuringia, Saxony, Carinthia and possibly Salzburg.
It grows in moist meadows and light alluvial forests on moist, nutrient-rich soils. It is limited to the colline altitude level . It is a character type of the order Molinietalia and occurs particularly in societies of the Cnidion association, but also in light societies of the Alno-Ulmion association.
