The flag of Bashkortostan today consists of a horizontally arranged tricolor in the colors blue-white-green. In the middle of the white stripe is the golden inflorescence of the Kurai plant ( Pleurospermum uralense ) as a sign of friendship between the people of Bashkortostan.

The seven flowers stand for the former Bashkir tribes, which form the basis for the unity and consolidation of today's Bashkirs .

The colors mean in detail:

  • Blue = community of Turkotatars , which also includes the Bashkirs. This color also symbolizes the integrity and virtues of the country's people.
  • White = This color is derived from the white flag of the Golden Horde , to which Bashkortostan also belonged. It also stands for peacefulness, openness and willingness to compromise on the part of the population.
  • Green = the color of Islam to which the Bashkirs belong. Furthermore, this color symbolizes freedom and eternal life.
  • Gold = This color alludes to the country's enormous natural resources and the prosperity of its inhabitants.
