Flavio Colusso (born August 13, 1960 in Rome ) is an Italian composer, librettist, conductor and choir director.

Life

Flavio Colusso studied composition with Domenico Guaccero and Franco Evangelisti and was a student of Andreina von Ramm .

At the beginning of the 1980s, he founded the Seicentonovecento ensemble with Silvia De Palma and Andrea Coen . He is the first President of the Sibelius Society in Italy, dedicated to the Finnish composer. He is the Artistic Director of Musicaimmagine .

He is Kapellmeister of the German Catholic national church Santa Maria dell'Anima in Rome and the titular church San Giacomo degli Incurabili in Rome. He is a member of the Pontifical Academy of Fine Arts and Literature . He belongs to the brotherhood of Santa Maria dell'Anima.

Act

Colusso is a specialist in the work of the Italian composer Giacomo Carissimi (1605–1674). In 1996 he made the complete recording of the oratorios and in 2014 the complete collection of the Arion Romanus motets.

He has re-recorded the oratorios, plays, vocal and instrumental music by Pasquale Anfossi , as well as the oratorios by Antonio Draghi . He has also published pieces by Jacques Arcadelt , Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina , Giovanni Battista Mariani , Alessandro Scarlatti , Antonio Maria Abbatini , Nicola Vaccaj , Luigi Cherubini and Pietro Mascagni .

He played and recorded the castrati repertoire with the Greek soprano Aris Christofellis in the 1990s .

Flavio Colusso's compositions have been performed by many artists, including José Carreras , Cecilia Gasdia , Aurio Tomicich , Gemma Bertagnolli , Giorgio Gatti , Daniele Lombardi and Vito Paternoster .
