After the end of the Second World War, the airfield initially remained unused until the air forces of the National People's Army took it over. After the renovation work in 1967, including paving the runway, it was to be regarded as a fully-fledged airfield. However, it only had a simple infrastructure with a few buildings and a few aircraft parking spaces, and the area was not fenced. The place served as a decentralization airfield of the fighter wing 1 "Fritz Schmenkel" . After the dissolution of the National People's Army in 1990, there was no more flight operations. Until 2009, motorsport events were held by the MZA Luckau on this site. After temporary use as a storage area for wind turbines , Wirsol Solar AG built a solar park with a peak output of 21 MWp on the eastern part of the runway at the beginning of 2012 .
