Erhard Milch , (left) wears the pilot's badge on his right breast pocket and is therefore wrong, while Göring wears it correctly on his left breast pocket. Curious, the photo from April 1936 still shows the old badge, even though the new pilot and observer badge had been issued for a year.

The Aviation Badge was an award of the German Air Force , which was donated on January 19, 1935 by the Reich Minister of Aviation Hermann Göring . It is regarded as the forerunner of the pilot and observer badge, which was reissued on March 26, 1935 and was replaced by this. The award of the pilot's badge could take place after the successful completion of the flying school training by the Reich Ministry of Aviation . On March 26, 1935, the pilot's badge was replaced by the new embossed pattern of the pilot and observer badge.

Appearance and wearing style

The oval decoration shows within a silver laurel wreath (right) and an oak leaf wreath (left), the applied sovereign badge of the Air Force of the first form, which is matted dark. The back of the badge is determined by a horizontally soldered needle and the corresponding counter hook. It was carried on the left breast pocket of the borrower.

Award numbers
