Flock ( English for herd , flock ) was a free Web browser on the code base of Chromium , formerly on the codebase of Mozilla Firefox . The developers of the browser identified him as a "social browser" ( "social browser" ), which means that as a Social Software was able to use popular social network services to simplify.
Further development of the browser was discontinued on April 26, 2011 and the company is dedicated to game development together with Zynga .
Version characteristics
In version 1.0, Flock differed from Firefox 2.0 in the following features :
- Flock's personalized start page (English My World ), on which you can see whether new pictures are available from your friends or new feeds.
- Offline bookmarks were automatically added to the account of a delicious user.
- Favorites were with tags are provided.
- Integration and uploader for Flickr and Photobucket .
- Blogging tools
Version 2.0 was based on the code base of Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and offered the following additional functions:
- an improved bookmark system with the support of the online bookmark service ma.gnolia
- Better management of many online services registered at the same time and the contacts they contain
- a revised media area for displaying images and videos
- easier handling of a large number of feeds
Version 3.0 was no longer based on the Firefox code, but on Chromium . There were the following innovations:
- Google as the default search engine (previously Yahoo!)
- a timeline in the right sidebar for Twitter , Facebook and Flickr
- Support of lists and merging of contacts from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube

Bart Decrem and Geoffrey Arone founded Round Two , which they renamed Flock (after their main product) in 2005 . The company's headquarters are in Redwood, California.
