The Flood Glacier (Engl. Flood Glacier , dt. "Flood glacier") is a 26 km long valley glaciers in the Boundary Ranges in British Columbia (Canada).
geography
The average 1.3 km wide glacier is located on the eastern edge of the Stikine Icecap not far from the border with Alaska . Telegraph Creek is 90 km north-northeast and Wrangell is 85 km south-southwest . The glacier's nutrient zone lies below the northern flank of Kate's Needle at an altitude of about 1200 m . The Flood Glacier flows around Dominion Mountain , initially in a northerly direction, later in an easterly direction. Below the glacier tongue there is a glacial rim lake at a height of about 80 m , which is drained via the 3 km long Flood River to the Stikine River . To the north, the glacier is flanked by Mount Rufus . On the southern edge of the glacier, 2.5 km above the lower end of the glacier, there is Flood Lake in a side valley .
Glacier development
The glacier tongue is steadily retreating. The glacier edge lake is growing accordingly. Its length is now almost 2 km.
