Florence Jacqueline Sylvie Nibart-Devouard , née Nibart (born September 10, 1968 in Versailles ) is a French agricultural engineer . From October 2006 to July 2008 she was chair of the board of trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation , the operator of Wikipedia .

life and career

Florence Nibart grew up in Grenoble . Later she lived temporarily in Antwerp and in the USA before moving to Clermont-Ferrand in 2005 . She studied agricultural science and graduated as an agricultural engineer from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie et des Industries Alimentaires (ENSAIA) near Nancy . She also has degrees in genetics and biotechnology .

Nibart-Devouard took over the chairmanship of the board of trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation from Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales on October 21, 2006 . She was succeeded in July 2008 by Michael Snow .

In 2008 Florence Nibart-Devouard was made a Knight of the Ordre national du Mérite . She is married and has three children.
