Florian Gruber (racing driver)
Florian Gruber (born January 26, 1983 in Vilsbiburg ) is a German racing driver .
Career
Gruber began his motorsport career in karting in 1994 , in which he was active until 1999. In 2000 he switched to touring car racing and competed in the German Volkswagen Lupo Cup . After finishing eighth in his debut season, he finished third in the championship in 2001. In the next season he drove the Bilstein touring car cup and took first place there. In the following season he competed in the German Touring Car Challenge (DTC) and won the championship title in the 2nd division.
In 2004 Gruber switched to the German SEAT Leon Supercopa . After finishing eighth in his first season and fourth in the overall standings in 2005, he won his first race in the series in 2006 and won the championship. In addition, as a reward for winning the SEAT European Masters 2005, he was given the opportunity to take part in a racing weekend in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in 2006 . In the works team SEAT Sport he took part in the world championship run in Oschersleben . He didn't get any points.
In 2007 Gruber moved to the German Porsche Carrera Cup . Starting for Herberth Motorsport , he finished the season in 18th place in the drivers' standings, while his team-mate Uwe Alzen won the championship title. He also took part as a guest starter in a run in the German SEAT Leon Supercopa and was the first to cross the finish line in one race. In 2008 Gruber did not take part in any racing series and only started in the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring . In this he won the SP3T rating. In 2009 Gruber took part in the FIA GT3 European Championship for Fischer Racing . He won a race and was sixth in the championship with his teammate Christoffer Nygaard . He also took part in six ADAC GT Masters races and finished the season in 19th place. In the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, he again won the SP3T classification. In 2010 Gruber only took part in one race of the FIA GT3 European Championship and finished the championship in 27th place.

On August 13, 2009, Gruber set a new lap record for road vehicles in a Gumpert Apollo on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring with a time of 7: 11.570.
