Florian Imer

Florian Imer (born November 8, 1898 in La Neuveville ; † January 22, 1981 in Bern ) was a Swiss lawyer and historian .

Life

Imer studied law at the University of Bern . In 1923 he was admitted to the bar and in 1933 received his doctorate.

As a member of the Farmers, Trade and Citizens Party (BGB), he was governor and court president of the La Neuveville district from 1926 to 1933 . From 1933 to 1968 he was a judge at the Higher Court of the Canton of Bern , which he also presided over from 1950 and 1954.

Florian Imer held the rank of major in the Swiss Army . During the Second World War he was chief of the legal service for internment . In 1965 he became president of the Bern Lawyers' Association .

Publications

Florian Imer excelled as a local and family historian. He wrote a history of his hometown of La Neuveville as well as essays on the Imer and Gélieu families .
