Florian Kragl

Florian Kragl (* 1979 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian Germanist .

Life

From 1999 to 2003 he completed a degree in German Philology and Musicology at the University of Vienna and from 2003 to 2005 a doctorate in German Philology in Vienna . From 2001 to 2006 he worked on various projects (musicology and German studies, University of Vienna), including editing and translating Heinrich von dem Türlin's 'Crône'. From February 2004 to July 2005 he was a DOC scholarship holder of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. From March 2006 to March 2011 he was a university assistant at the Department of German Studies at the University of Vienna (April 2008 to March 2010). From April 2008 to March 2010 he was a research fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the LMU Munich ; then return to the assistant position in Vienna. After his habilitation on April 22, 2010 at the University of Vienna, venia docendi : “Older German Language and Literature”, he has been teaching since April 2011 as a professor of German philology in a European context at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg .

His main research interests are edition philology, poetics and aesthetics, narrative theory, discourse on alterity, German literature of the Middle Ages and the early modern period: Arthurian and courtly novels, heroic poetry, medieval poetry, Alexander poetry and medieval music (melodies of minstrels and chant poets).
