Florian Maier (stereographer)

Florian Maier (* 1978 in Munich ) is a German stereographer and founder and managing director of Stereotec.

Life

Maier grew up in Munich . In addition to a guest study at the University of Television and Film Munich , he studied media technology at the TU Ilmenau from 2000 to 2006 .

As early as the mid-1990s, Maier began to deal intensively with the design of 3D films. As a senior stereographer he was responsible for the three-dimensional design of films such as " Wickie auf Große Fahrt " (Constantin Film / Rat Pack), " Hansel and Gretel: Witches Hunters " (Paramount Pictures), " Return of Viy " (Russian Film Group), " The Mystery of Dragon Seal ”(Russian Film Group),“ Hype Nation ”(Pandora) as well as advertising films for companies such as Volkswagen , Red Bull or Sony and numerous short films. As supervisor of the Stereotec 3D system, he was instrumental in developing and maintaining the 3D technology of Ang Lee 's 120 fps 4K 3D film "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" (Sony Pictures) and Ang Lee's latest film "Gemini Man “(Paramount Pictures) responsible. In addition, he gives lectures at 3D film festivals and symposia, such as those of the 3D Innovation Center of the Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin and workshops, for example at the University of Film and Television "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam or together with Alain Derobe at the European Film Academy . Between 2012 and 2019 Florian Maier was awarded a total of 12 "Lumiere Awards for Outstanding Achievement" from the International 3D Society in Hollywood, along with other prizes . Florian Maier is a member of the European Film Academy.
