Florian Wildgruber
Florian Wildgruber (born July 26, 1991 in Freising ) is a German triathlete , speaker and author . He is German Champion (AG 25) 2015, Ironman 70.3 European Champion (Overall Agegroup) 2016 and Ironman Hawaii Finisher 2016. As a speaker, he won the Austrian Speaker Slam in 2016.
Life
Florian Wildgruber was born in Freising , where he grew up. After completing school, he began a dual course of study at the DHfPG , which he completed in 2009 as the youngest graduate of the year with a master's degree in prevention and health management with a focus on sports psychology and coaching .
Sports
Wildgruber was a keen athlete from childhood . At first, after his birth, it was not clear whether he would ever be able to walk normally. Half-sided paralysis, hip dysplasia , clubfoot and torticollis required intensive physiotherapeutic measures that lasted over a year. Then he tried out various sports before he ended up playing handball at the age of 10 . There he made it to the Bayern team as a goalkeeper, but had to give up the dream of a professional handball player in 2009 due to his height of 173 cm. A few months later, he began triathlon and trained under professional guidance from 2012. In 2013 he secured his ticket for the Triathlon World Championship in Las Vegas with the runner-up European title at Ironman 70.3 Wiesbaden . In the following years there were further successes, including a. a gold medal at the German Championships in 2015 and the Ironman 70.3 European Champion title in 2016. In his long-distance debut at the Ironman Florida in 2015, he made it into the top 5, securing one of the slots for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii . On October 8, 2016, he fulfilled a lifelong dream with the finish at Ironman Hawaii .
In his hometown he was named Sportsman of the Year three times .
Speaker
During his time as a triathlete, Wildgruber gained experience on stage. He is now on the road as a professional speaker . As an expert on the subject of potential development, he gives lectures on the subject of motivation and personal strengths in companies, universities, schools and at public events.
In April 2016, Florian Wildgruber was the youngest participant to win the Austrian Speaker Slam.
