Florin Laubenthal

Florin Laubenthal (born October 22, 1903 in Mayen , † August 16, 1964 in Essen ) was a German neurologist.

Career

Laubenthal studied from 1922 to 1927 at the Universities of Bonn and Munich. In 1929 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. There he completed his habilitation in neurology and psychiatry in 1937 . From 1938 he taught as a lecturer and from 1944 as an adjunct professor of neurology and psychiatry at the University of Bonn . In 1947 he became the deputy director and chief physician of the city mental hospital in Essen. In 1963, the Essen municipal hospitals were promoted to the medical faculty of the University of Münster and Laubenthal was appointed head physician of the neurological clinic full professor for neurology and psychiatry at the Essen University of Münster. He died of lung cancer in 1964 at the age of 60 .

In 1941, Laubenthal published the textbook Leitfaden der Neurologie in Georg Thieme Verlag . In the preface to the book, he emphasizes the neurological examination as the basis for enforcing the law for the prevention of genetically ill offspring , refers to the eugenic race laws and the importance of hereditary diseases in neurology ("genetic care issues").
