Fonda Lee

Fonda Lee (born March 10, 1979 in Calgary , Canada ) is a Canadian-American science fiction and fantasy writer.

Life

Fonda Lee grew up in Calgary and then lived in Toronto and the San Francisco Bay Area . She studied at Stanford University , where she graduated with a Masters . She then worked as a corporate consultant and, most recently, in corporate strategy at Nike before becoming a full-time writer.

In 2014 Lee participated in the Viable Paradise workshop for SF authors, and in 2015 her first novel Zeroboxer was published . This, as well as the two novels in the Exo series, was aimed at young people. The fantasy novel Jade City , first volume in the cycle The Green Bone Saga , won the World Fantasy and Aurora Awards in 2018 and was nominated for the Nebula and Locus Awards. Lee was a finalist at the Andre Norton Awards with the novels Zeroboxer and Exo .

Lee has two children and lives in Portland , Oregon . She practices martial arts with a black belt in karate and kung fu .
