The Flowers River is an approximately 100 km long tributary of the Labrador Sea to the east of Labrador in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador .

River course

The Flowers River has its origin in a nameless lake at a height of 380  m . The Flowers River flows mainly in an easterly direction through the central east of the Labrador Peninsula and flows 54 km west-northwest of Hopedale into the head end of the 23 km long Flowers Bay . About 16 km north of the estuary is the abandoned settlement of Davis Inlet . At river kilometer 79 the Kamatuetet-shipiss flows from the left into the Flowers River. The Flowers River flows through three lakes between river kilometers 47 and 67. The catchment area of the Flowers River covers 1,443 km².

Fish fauna

In the river system of the Flowers River, Atlantic salmon , the anadromous form of brook trout and arctic char are found. At river kilometer 46.7 there is a 4.3 m high waterfall, which is an obstacle for migratory fish when the water flow is low .
