The N'Djamena airport , and Hassan Djamous airport , internationally as N'Djamena International Airport or Aéroport international de N'Djamena is known an airport in the northwest of the city of N'Djamena in Chad . He is nicknamed the former commander of the Chad Air Force, Hassan Djamous . The national airline Toumaï Air Tchad has its base here.
The air force of Chad is based at the airport . On the other side is the part of the airport used for passenger operations.
Airlines and Destinations
Numerous airlines are currently coming to N'Djamena in scheduled service, serving numerous destinations in North Africa from here. Seasonal intercontinental flights to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Air France three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays) to Paris . There are also some air freight connections.
Incidents
- On November 11, 1952, a Douglas DC-4 / C-54A of the Union Aéromaritime de Transport (UAT) ( aircraft registration F-BFVO ) had an accident near Lake Chad , about 120 kilometers north-north-west of the starting point Fort-Lamy (today N'Djamena) at the beginning of the flight to Beirut . Four of the five crew members and the only passenger were killed.
- On June 3, 1955, a Douglas DC-4 / C-54A of the UAT (registration number F-BFVT ) overturned on landing at Fort-Lamy Airport. She is said to have been struck by lightning while touching down during a thunderstorm. The three-person crew of the cargo flight coming from Douala was killed.
