location

The airport is located 8 km northeast of the eponymous town of Kurumotsch and 35 km north of the Volga metropolis Samara along the Volga in the direction of Tolyatti , which is a neighboring city that is internationally known for its Lada car factories.

Incidents

  • On March 17, 2007, a Tupolev Tu-134 of the UTair ( registration number RA-65021) touched down on the approach to Samara airfield 300 m in front of the runway . Even when asked, the crew had received completely wrong weather data on the approach, but also fell below the prescribed decision height without having the runway in sight.
