The airport Sanya Phoenix International Airport is the southernmost commercial airport in the People's Republic of China . It is located on Hainan Island , northwest of downtown Sanya in the Tianya District . The airport is open around the clock and has five passenger boarding bridges and 20 parking spaces for aircraft. The airport has been operated by the HNA Group since 2002 .
