The Aérodrome de Dieppe-Saint-Aubin is a airfield of general aviation , it is in the region of Hauts-de-France in the department of Seine-Maritime about five kilometers southeast of Dieppe in the area of Saint-Aubin-sur-Scie .
history
The airfield was built in 1934, especially with a view to the tourist opportunities of the nearby coast, and in the 1930s recorded up to 800 aircraft movements annually.
A few days after the start of the German Wehrmacht's western campaign during World War II , the site was briefly used by German Bf 109E fighters. In mid-May 1940, the I. Group of Jagdgeschwader 77 (I./JG 77) and I. (Jagd-) Gruppe of Lehrgeschwader 2 (I. (Jagd) / LG 2) lay here in quick succession for a few days . At the end of the German occupation, the airfield was largely destroyed.
In 1948 it was reopened by the Dieppe Chamber of Commerce. The airfield was expanded moderately in the following decades, with the paved runway being built in 1972.
