The Aeropuerto Departamental de Maldonado - Punta del Este "El Jagüel" ( IATA code : without - ICAO airport code: SUPE) is an airfield in Uruguay .
It is located in the south of Uruguay, nestled between the cities of Maldonado in the north-west, Punta del Este in the south and the Barrio Parque del Golf in the south-east, in the Maldonado department and is therefore connected to Ruta 10 and Ruta 39 in terms of transport infrastructure .
Based on the survey time at the beginning of 2013, the airfield, which is located on urban land and is managed by the Dirección Nacional de Aviación Civil e Infraestructura Aeronáutica (Dinacia), is currently used by small planes and private helicopters, especially in the summer months. A flight school is also located there. Another focus of use is the activities of parachutists, for whom El Jagüel is the center of this sport in the region. Starting from this location, an average of 50 jumps per day take place in the main summer season. Argentinians, Brazilians and North Americans represent the largest proportion of users in this area.
There are considerations as part of the zoning plan Plan de Ordenamiento Territorial Eje Avenida Aparicio Saravia to reopen the airfield at another location in the department. The city of San Carlos was envisaged.
