Ralph Heskett, CSsR (born March 3, 1953 in Sunderland , United Kingdom ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and Bishop of Hallam .

Life

Heskett joined the Redemptorist order after completing his schooling . He took his first religious vows on August 28, 1971; Perpetual profession took place on August 30, 1974. On July 10, 1976, Ralph Heskett was ordained a priest . He initially worked in Perth . In 1980 he moved to Erdington Abbey in Birmingham , where he combined the role of missionary and retreat leader with that of the training director of the Province of London. In 1984 Heskett returned to Perth, first as head of the mission team, then as rector of the community and head of the retreat house. In 1990 he became a pastor in Liverpool. After a sabbatical in 1996, Heskett became a novice master . In 1999 he took over the parish of St. Mary in Clapham . In 2008 he returned to Liverpool to work as a missionary and retreat leader.

On March 18, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Ralph Heskett as Bishop of Gibraltar . He received his episcopal ordination from Michael George Bowen , senior archbishop of Southwark , on July 10 of the same year; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Menevia , Thomas Matthew Burns SM , and his predecessor, Bishop Charles Caruana .

Ralph Heskett was invested in the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in 2010 . From 2010 to 2017 he was the Grand Prior of the Lieutenancy of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in Gibraltar, founded in 1985 as a magistral delegation.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Hallam , based in Sheffield, on May 20, 2014 to succeed John Rawsthorne . The inauguration took place on July 10th of the same year.
