The plane collision near Tehran in 1993 occurred on February 8, 1993 when a Tupolev Tu-154M of Iran Airtour used on a charter flight collided with a Sukhoi Su-24 of the Iranian Air Force shortly after take-off from Tehran-Mehrabad airport . All 133 people on board both aircraft were killed in the accident.

The first aircraft was a 1991 Tupolev Tu-154M, which had the factory number 91A903 . The aircraft was delivered to Aeroflot on February 27, 1992 with the aircraft registration number CCCP-85721 . In August of the same year, the machine was sold to Iran Airtour, which approved it with the aircraft registration EP-ITD . The three- engine, medium - range, narrow-body aircraft was equipped with three type D-30KU-154 jet engines.

On board the machine were 119 passengers who had booked a charter flight from Tehran to Mashhad , as well as 12 crew members.

The Tupolev Tu-154 of the Iran Airtour received clearance to take off from runway 29R, which was successfully executed. While the aircraft was in its initial climb, the Suchoi Su-24MK of the Iranian Air Force flew visually to runway 29L at Tehran-Mehrabad Airport. At 2:16 p.m. the fighter plane flew into the tail of the Tu-154, whereupon both planes crashed at Ghods , 15 kilometers north of the airport, killing all occupants.
