Foghorn Leghorn is the name of a figure of the famous Looney Tunes from Warner Bros. Animation studios that 1946 their first appearance in the cartoon " Walky Talky Hawky " (Eng., Entitled " Goshawk looking chicken ") had.

Originally only intended as a secondary character, the rooster with a strong tendency towards bad pranks became a permanent figure of the Looney Tunes and was used for over 20 short films and also appeared as the main character in a few films, mostly alongside Henery Hawk and Barnyard Dawg .

The character Foghorn Leghorn was developed by the animator Robert McKimson after a radio character from the 1930s known simply as The Sheriff . Foghorn ( Nebelhorn ) refers to his loud, arrogant voice, " Leghorn " is a common breed of domestic chicken . The name is also a reference to the fictitious, effervescent US southern states - Senator Beauregard Claghorn (a then popular figure in the since 1945 broadcast radio show The Fred Allen Show ), some of whose phrases foghorns were taken repertoire. In the original voice he was given the voice, with a strong Virginia or Kentucky accent, by Mel Blanc .

Typically, the rooster hums the song Camptown Races (" Doo-dah! Doo-dah! ") By Stephen Foster while he prepares one of his pranks, to which he almost always falls victim himself. In all other Looney Tunes series, the pranks are usually started by the sidekicks , not the main character.
