Foley Island is an island in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago . It lies in the north of the Foxe Basin off the south coast of Baffin Island . Politically, the island belongs to the Qikiqtaaluk region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut .
The land area of Foley Island is 637 km². The highest point on the island is 61 m.
The island was discovered by Albert-Ernest Tomkinson, a Royal Canadian Air Force navigator , in 1948 aboard an Avro Lancaster . In the same year, the neighboring islands of Prince Charles Island and Air Force Island were also discovered. The three islands are designated as important breeding grounds for several bird species by BirdLife International as Important Bird Area Foxe Basin Islands (NU011).
