The Carmignac Foundation is a Paris- based foundation owned by the Carmignac Gestion company .

History and mission of the foundation

The Carmignac Foundation was founded in 2000 by the businessman Edmond Carmignac. It is based in Paris on Place Vendôme and is directed by Gala Donzet.

The foundation's tasks are to promote contemporary artists through grants and purchases for an internationally oriented collection of objects of fine art and photography . Exhibitions will also be shown to the public at the company's headquarters in Paris and other locations in Europe.

Porquerolles project

In 2016, the foundation plans to open another exhibition building in the middle of the Port-Cros National Park on the island of Porquerolles on the Îles d'Hyères off the Provencal coast of the Mediterranean . The Provencal country house redesigned by the foundation for exhibition purposes and the newly designed park are to be open to the public and used for temporary exhibitions and a sculpture park.

Carmignac Gestion Photojournalism Award

In the years from 2009 to 2013, the foundation awarded an annual grant of 50,000 euros. The grant was intended to enable photojournalists to capture a country's problems during a longer stay. The results of the stay were published in a monograph and shown first in Paris and then at other exhibition locations. Since 2010, the chapel of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris has been the first stop for the exhibitions.
