Fondeadero Rowett ( Spanish ) is a 18 m deep natural harbor on the south coast of Elephant Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is northeast of Rowett Island and immediately east of Cape Lookout .
Chilean scientists named it after the name of the island of the same name. Its namesake is John Quiller Rowett (1874-1924), a British businessman and financier of the Quest Expedition (1921-1922) under the direction of the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton .
