The Forbes Point is a headland at the Danco Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . In Andvord Bay , it forms the east side of the entrance to Lester Cove .
The Scottish geologist David Ferguson named a supposed rock spur in this geographical position during his Antarctic voyage from 1913 to 1914, the name Forbes Hill . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee transferred Ferguson's designation to the headland described here in 1960. It is named after the Scottish physicist James David Forbes (1809–1868), a pioneer of glaciology .
