The Interceptor is a retro-style sedan that reflects a modern interpretation of the classic sporty American muscle car from the 1960s, such as the Ford Galaxie . The Ford Interceptor was officially unveiled in a company press release dated December 31, 2006. Ford describes the design of the Interceptor as influenced “... like a man in uniform. It looks chic and elegant, but you can see the power that defines it. ”Ford does not currently have production plans for such a full-size, rear-wheel drive sedan (with the exception of the Falcon, which was exclusively made and sold in Australia), though some of the design features of the Ford Interceptor have appeared in the sixth generation.
